Senior Clinician Physical Therapist: Cardiopulmonary – Split Inpatient/Outpatient NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Columbia University Medical Center 177 Fort Washington Ave, New York, NY 10032 Full-Time / Day Flex Schedule: 3 days outpatient (Cardiopulmonary rehab clinic). 2 days inpatient (Inpatient cardiology, pulmonology, cardiac surgery, thoracic units, and transplant service). Weekend and holiday coverage as needed. Step into the compassionate world of NewYork-Presbyterian, where patients receive physical therapy of the highest caliber. The Rehabilitation Medicine Department at NYP is one of the largest in the nation, with over 50 years of experience advancing clinical excellence. We are seeking an experienced clinician to join our Cardiopulmonary service line in a unique hybrid role: three days in outpatient care and two days in inpatient care. As a Senior Clinician/Advanced Clinician, you will serve as a mentor to staff, a clinical consultant, and an instructor within the department while coordinating educational programs and participating in NYP service excellence initiatives. This role requires advanced skills in the assessment and treatment of patients with complex cardiopulmonary conditions across the continuum of care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy.
  • New York State Physical Therapy license.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Minimum 5 years as a practicing PT.
  • At least 1 year in cardiopulmonary specialty (acute care and/or outpatient).
  • Prior experience with inpatient complex cardiac and pulmonary patients (non-ICU level care).
  • Completion of 20 CE credits in Physical Therapy with at least 50% in cardiopulmonary specialty.
  • Completion of 10 CE credits within the past 3 years.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Board Certified Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Clinical Specialist (ABPTS).
  • Prior rotation in inpatient rehab and outpatient cardiac or pulmonary program.
  • Competency in ventilator management, VAD's, walk tests and high flow patients.
  • Excellent communication, teaching skills, flexibility, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • A.P.T.A. Membership.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat patients with cardiopulmonary diagnoses in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Implement evidence-based interventions for functional mobility, airway clearance, breathing retraining, and exercise tolerance.
  • Serve as an educational resource for staff therapists, students, and allied health professionals.
  • Organize and conduct advanced-level cardiopulmonary education sessions.
  • Develop assessment and treatment protocols for cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.
  • Participate in new clinical programs and assist with data collection for ongoing studies.
