About The Position

The Clinical Therapist at the UAMS Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Center will provide direct clinical services such as diagnostic assessment, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, and crisis intervention to patients using evidence-based interventions. Direct and indirect clinical services are provided in the office unless remote work agreement is available upon hire. The Clinical Therapist works directly under the supervision of the Clinical Therapist Supervisor, Program Manager, and/or Clinic Medical Director. The Clinical Therapist must have the ability to make decisions related to treatment planning. They must understand mental health diagnosis and treatment. Adaptable technological skills are required. In addition, the Clinical Therapist will be responsible for ongoing communications with their supervisor and other members of the treatment team. They will complete clinical and administrative processes and documentation in compliance with relevant policies and procedures. They will participate in staff meetings, trainings, supervision, and continuing education activities as needed to maintain quality provision and coordination of care as well as professional licensure and/or certification.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Counseling or Social Work required.
  • Licensed by the Arkansas Professional Board - Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • Ability to pass CPI Certification, if required.
  • Ability to pass Child Abuse and Neglect Registry check, State Police background check, and drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Provides and appropriately documents direct clinical services. These include, but are not limited to, diagnostic assessment, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, collateral intervention, and crisis intervention.
  • Completes clinical and administrative processes and documentation in compliance with Medicaid, insurance, Joint Commission, program, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Complies with all legal and professional standards and/or guidelines, such as mandatory reporting, maintenance of professional licensure in accordance with state licensing boards, and ensuring compliance with best practices through continuing education and clinical supervision.
  • Works with administrative support and utilization management staff as needed to facilitate scheduling, prior and continuing review authorization of services, and transfer/referral of clients to other programs or providers as needed.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled and as-needed departmental and program staff meetings, training, and supervision.
  • Participates in continuing education activities as required to maintain professional licensure and/or certification.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, which may include phone calls with patients or insurance companies, writing letters to patients on behalf of the Medical Director(s) or other clinical staff, and assisting in the discharge process of patients.
