THE OPPORTUNITY The Senior Clinical Scientist role will work out of our Vascular Division location at St. Paul, MN. This is a fully onsite role. Senior Clinical Scientist is responsible for providing scientific and clinical expertise to support the planning, execution, and interpretation of clinical studies in a regulated medical device environment, contributing to high‑quality data generation, cross‑functional decision‑making, and the scientific integrity of clinical programs

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 4 year related work experience with a solid understanding of specified functional area.
  • Broad knowledge and application of business concepts, procedures and practices.
  • Will perform this job in a quality system environment.
  • Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.
  • Learns to use professional concepts and company policies and procedures to solve routine problems.
  • Works on problems of limited scope.
  • Independent decision making required.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the planning, execution, and interpretation of clinical and/or translational research activities in a regulated medical device environment.
  • Applies scientific and clinical principles to inform clinical study design, execution, and data interpretation, in collaboration with cross‑functional partners.
  • Supports validity of study by identifying and resolving discrepancies and addressing missing data; may oversee core lab activities and more complex components of the trial.
  • Contributes to the development of clinical protocols, case report forms, and other study materials through cross-functional collaboration and scientific input.
  • Contributes to scientific publications and presentations through analysis and interpretation of clinical study data.
  • Maintains expertise in regulations for applicable geographies and types of studies (IDE, non-significant risk, feasibility, exempt, etc.).
  • Serves as a resource related to clinical trial regulations.
  • Mentors and trains new employees.
  • Demonstrates leadership within their smaller organization and provides general leadership direction.
  • Seeks out opportunities to demonstrate skills and knowledge base to senior leaders.
  • Provides scientific and clinical support to contract research organizations (CROs), as needed.
  • Ensures timely collection of study documentation by obtaining, maintaining and controlling all necessary records and documentation according to procedures and regulations.
  • Establishes and cultivates a network of internal resources to facilitate completion of tasks.
  • Individual influence is exerted at various levels across the team.
  • Completes daily work to meet established schedule through self-prioritization of tasks.
  • May exercise authority within pre-established limits and approval.
  • Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious delays and considerable expenditure of resources.
