We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to join our Michigan Region as a Senior Client Advisor. This position is responsible for driving business development efforts in the region. The selected individual will lead market research, generate leads, identify potential clients, and sell engineering services to both new and existing clients. The role involves collaboration across multiple departments, including engineering, marketing, and client relations, to achieve regional revenue goals and support the overall business development strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead outreach initiatives to identify and engage potential clients in the region, promoting the firms engineering services and capabilities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, positioning the firm as their preferred vendor for engineering services.
  • Educate clients about the firms diverse service offerings and value propositions.
  • Conduct thorough market research to uncover new business opportunities, including information on upcoming projects, procurement cycles, funding sources, and decision-making processes.
  • Maintain a robust database of prospective clients and future projects, ensuring regular and targeted outreach efforts.
  • Work with the EVP of Marketing & Business Development, Client Relations Director, Marketing, and Operations teams to develop strategies, statements of qualifications (SOQs), and pursuit plans.
  • Identify key decision-makers within client organizations and develop tailored strategies to meet their needs and goals.
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to understand and communicate complex technical solutions that align with client needs.
  • Assist with or lead the development of proposals, presentations, and marketing materials to effectively showcase the firms value proposition.
  • Utilize client relationship management (CRM) tools to track sales activities, maintain client data, and forecast future business opportunities.
  • Monitor sales performance and resource allocation, working closely with senior leadership to review the effectiveness of pursuits and proposals.
  • Promote and ensure the adoption of efficient processes for client relationship management, data analysis, and forecasting.
  • Regularly report on sales performance, provide insights into regional trends, and suggest improvements for business development efforts.
  • Participate in additional business development and marketing activities as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

  • A degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in an outside sales or marketing role, with a focus on selling professional services, is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience working with municipalities or public agencies is strongly preferred.
  • Proven success in managing a sales funnel, generating leads, and converting prospects into long-term clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, positioning the firm as a trusted advisor.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to make impactful presentations and professional correspondence.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with market research tools.
  • Experience in professional services sales and client retention, with the ability to coach technical teams on business development activities.
  • A valid drivers license and the ability to travel regularly within the region.
