Senior Claims Specialist - Environmental Exton, PA; Philadelphia, PA; NYC, NY; Morristown, NJ; and Hartford, CT, USA Our Claims team sets us apart. As a Senior Claims Specialist - Environmental, you will play a critical role in handling and resolving AXA XL's claims for the Environmental Pollution team. You will be responsible for analyzing unique coverage issues, proactively collecting and organizing information, ensuring reserve adequacy, mitigating risk exposure, managing litigation, and developing effective resolution strategies. Expect to work closely with your manager and fellow Claims colleagues to drive files to resolution, interacting and collaborating frequently with the Underwriting team. Together, you will be tasked with achieving the best possible outcomes for AXA XL and its clients by resolving and settling claims proactively. What you'll be doing What will your essential responsibilities include?

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; Juris Doctor (JD) preferred
  • Claims Technical Expertise: Broad experience in the handling and management of complex Pollution Sites, Contractor's Professional and Pollution Liability, or Construction-related claims, including experience analyzing coverage and writing coverage position letters.
  • Effective communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and negotiation skills. Able to communicate and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at various levels of sophistication.
  • Collaborative approach: Develop productive working relationships with insureds, brokers, claim handlers, Underwriters and legal counsel. Seek input from others as needed to achieve the best result possible. Capable of working and collaborating in a hybrid work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of state adjuster licenses is preferred.
  • Insurance designation(s) (CPCU, AIC, ARM, SCLA) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Handling complex pollution and/or high exposure claims across multiple jurisdictions, analyzing the applicability of coverage to the facts of each claim and setting the case strategy for these claims in partnership with Claims management, as warranted.
  • Partnering with internal and external counsel to set and pursue effective, cost-efficient litigation strategies for litigated claims.
  • Coordinating and managing communication with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. Underwriting, brokers, reinsurers, external vendors, etc.) to ensure the highest level of customer service. Participation in new account and renewal meetings may be required.
  • Consulting with Claims management on Large Losses and ensuring all steps are taken to achieve the best outcome.
  • Documenting as necessary claim activity in our claim system in accordance with our Global Claim Handling Principles, which includes the establishment and maintenance of appropriate reserves.
  • Producing internal reporting and ensuring that reserves are set according to best practices guidelines.
  • Identifying, monitoring and reporting on emerging liability and coverage trends, leading to data-driven success.
