Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; JD or CPCU designation a plus.
  • 5+ years of claims handling experience, with specific expertise in New York Labor Law (240/241) claims.
  • Strong technical knowledge of liability, coverage, and litigation processes.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload with attention to detail and timeliness.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Handle a portfolio of high-exposure New York Labor Law (240/241) claims from initial investigation through final resolution.
  • Analyze coverage, liability, and damages to set and maintain accurate reserves.
  • Develop and execute litigation and settlement strategies in coordination with defense counsel.
  • Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and trials as necessary.
  • Provide clear, timely communication to insureds, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with company best practices, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor junior claims staff and serve as a subject matter expert on Labor Law claims.
