This exciting role can be located in the following locations: Kennesaw, GA (Suburb of Atlanta) or Fort Worth, TX. We will consider remote for candidates with strong experience in nuclear engineering.

Requirements

  • Master of Science or Master of Engineering Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited university, or equivalent work and training in a related role.
  • 7 years of post-graduate experience with advanced structural analysis and design.
  • Experience in the design and analysis of concrete and steel structures, preferably at nuclear power plants.
  • Thorough understanding of seismic engineering fundamentals and applications.
  • Familiarity with major structural and mechanical systems, their seismic design basis, and the impact of seismic response on their safety functions.
  • Experience in civil and structural analysis and design software such as ANSYS, GTSTRUDL, SAP2000, and STAAD.Pro.
  • Knowledge of codes, standards, regulations, guidelines such as ASCE 7, ASCE 43, ACI 318, ACI 349, AISC.
  • Ability to gain and maintain unescorted access at nuclear sites.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and provide technical guidance to support staff.
  • Ability and willingness to apply established technical knowledge to less familiar applications.
  • Flexibility to respond and adapt to client and project needs.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in teams.
  • Ability to travel between 15-25% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners and coordinate with diverse engineering teams to ensure project success.
  • Provide seismic/structural engineering support for advanced structural analysis and design, and seismic qualification of structures, systems, and components (SSCs) of nuclear facilities.
  • Develop design studies, prepare engineering calculations and analysis, attend project meetings, perform walkdowns, and mentor junior employees.
  • Develop innovative design studies, define project scopes, and create accurate engineering estimates to drive project excellence.
  • Foster a positive, goal-oriented environment with motivational leadership, empowering teams to achieve success.
  • Participate in project meetings to discuss technical and project issues (e.g., design, scope, schedule, and budget).
  • Develop finite element models and perform seismic analysis such as Modal Analysis, Response Spectrum Analysis, Time History Analysis, and Equivalent Static Load Analysis.
  • Perform Soil-Structure Interaction Analysis to generate in-structure response spectra (ISRS) and extract displacements, forces, and moments at various structural elements.
  • Design and analyze concrete and steel structural elements located within a nuclear facility.
  • Execute essential civil/structural and seismic calculations that form the foundation of successful designs and installations.
  • Perform design verification and peer reviews of engineering evaluations, designs, and documentation produced by others.
  • Prepare high quality, error-free engineering deliverables and reports according to industry codes, standards, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of industry codes and standards, regulations, and design and analysis techniques suitable to the nuclear industry.
  • Provide guidance, instruction, and mentoring to less experienced engineers.
  • Support proposal development including defining the technical scope, estimating required engineering hours, and other project-related costs.
  • Travel to plant sites to interface with client personnel and perform walkdowns of plant structures, systems, and components.
