Job Summary: Generally responsible for performing all aspects for a complete designs of small and large civil/structural engineering assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. This work will be performed under general supervision. Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Ability to independently develop and apply advanced engineering techniques, concepts, and approaches to unique engineering problems. Prior experience as a CSA lead on major capital projects is required. Has the ability to supervise engineering staff on industrial projects that range from small to large capital size projects. Ability to assemble and review bid packages for large scale civil/structural work scopes. Proactively provides guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, and applicable engineering codes (IBC, AISC, ASCE, ACI, etc.) Experience with civil/structural analysis software (Risa 3D & Risa Foundation preferred). Must be proficient with CAD software and Microsoft Office. Has the ability to produce estimate level preliminary designs and material take-offs suitable for the level of the estimate being performed on a project. Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies as necessary to determine the simplest, most efficient approach to solving engineering tasks. Independently applies knowledge and continuously develop quality program for CSA department. Establishes related processes and promotes a culture that is conducive to quality. Provides guidance and direction to others and supports continuous improvement and change management efforts. Must be able to perform field work to gather relevant project data and provide construction support as required. Has the ability to develop detailed sketches necessary for completing engineering drawings. Has the knowledge and experience to check calculations made by other engineers to ensure code and specification conformance and good engineering practice.
