About The Position

Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is hiring a Senior Civil Engineer, PE for our Pensacola, FL office. This strategic hire will support continued project growth and help expand our capacity while maintaining the high level of service our clients expect. The Senior Civil Engineer will independently lead and manage civil engineering projects from planning through construction support, serving as both technical lead and primary client contact. Projects primarily support municipal clients (counties and utilities), with limited private commercial work, and include collaboration on larger multidisciplinary efforts while maintaining ownership of assigned deliverables. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license – required.
  • 12–15 years of progressive civil engineering experience.
  • Strong private-sector civil engineering background (government-only experience limited to 1–2 years maximum).
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead and manage projects.
  • Proven client relationship management skills.
  • Experience across general civil infrastructure projects (municipal utilities, drainage, site development, or related disciplines).
  • Strong self-management, organization, and leadership capability.

Nice To Haves

  • Entry-level managerial experience or demonstrated interest in advancing into broader project management responsibilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and independently manage civil engineering projects from planning and design through construction support.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for assigned clients, building and maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Perform and oversee engineering analyses, evaluations, and design for general civil infrastructure projects, including utilities, drainage systems, and related site development components.
  • Conduct assessments of existing infrastructure and develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
  • Prepare and review engineering studies, technical reports, contract documents, and specifications.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
  • Coordinate closely with the Hiring Manager and team members to align workload, priorities, and deliverables.
  • Supervise and provide direction to a CAD Technician.
  • Participate in internal planning discussions and contribute to overall team growth and operational efficiency.
  • Support business development efforts through client engagement and identification of project opportunities.
