The Senior Civil Engineer plays a pivotal role in leading a design team responsible for the preparation of plans and specifications for drinking water capital improvement projects. This position is crucial in ensuring that the goals and objectives set by the Engineering Manager are met, particularly in terms of project schedules and budgets. In this role, the Senior Civil Engineer will lead a design team to manage multiple potable water supply, treatment, storage, and distribution design projects. Responsibilities include preparing design plans and specifications, planning and directing the work of assigned staff, and evaluating their performance. The Senior Civil Engineer will coordinate with both internal and external resources, including consultants, to ensure timely completion of design projects while collaborating closely with other departments such as operations, customer service, and water quality. The position requires prioritization of design projects, monitoring of schedules and budgets, and implementation of corrective actions as necessary. The Senior Civil Engineer will also perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) on design projects, manage consultants, review invoices, and provide input on submittals and field changes during the construction phase. Additionally, the engineer will represent the company in public settings regarding projects and perform engineering design services related to Capital Improvement Programs and other water-related projects.
