Senior Civil Designer
About The Position
Shape Infrastructure as a Civil Designer Are you a detail-oriented designer with a solid grasp of site development, grading, and civil layout? As a Civil Designer with APS, you’ll develop detailed design packages for infrastructure, energy, and industrial projects — collaborating closely with engineers, surveyors, and construction teams to ensure plans are accurate, coordinated, and ready to build. Role Summary The Civil Designer develops 2D and/or 3D civil drawings, layouts, and supporting documentation in compliance with project specifications and applicable codes. You’ll support projects from concept through construction, ensuring that designs are practical, constructible, and meet client standards.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree, technical drafting certificate, or equivalent experience
- 3–8 years of experience in civil design for site development, infrastructure, or industrial projects
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required (grading, alignments, surfaces, corridors, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, and survey information
- Familiarity with civil codes and local permitting requirements is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality deliverables
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment
Nice To Haves
- Experience with stormwater modeling tools (StormCAD, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD)
- Familiarity with GIS data integration or survey processing workflows
- Exposure to large capital projects, site expansions, or utility-scale developments
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) may be beneficial for field support
Responsibilities
- Prepare site development drawings including grading, drainage, roads, parking, and utilities layouts
- Develop detailed civil plans, profiles, sections, and supporting sheets using AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar software
- Interpret survey data, geotechnical reports, and topographic information for design purposes
- Coordinate with civil engineers and other disciplines (structural, piping, electrical) to resolve conflicts and ensure design integration
- Support generation of earthwork calculations, quantity take-offs (QTOs), and material lists
- Assist in preparing permit packages, as-built drawings, and construction documentation
- Perform drawing revisions and maintain accurate file management and version control
- Provide design support during construction and respond to RFIs as needed
