Senior Civil Design Technician
About The Position
The Senior Civil Design Technician will use their skills and technical knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D computer automated drafting design (CADD) software to lead the production of quality models to meet client needs and project requirements. Under the supervision of licensed Engineers, work in connection with land survey and civil projects; duties include modeling of site development, site grading, ADA accessibility, earthwork and volume calculations, Civil 3D modeling, pipe networks and profile design. Prepare, or modify maps, drawings, and plans, and provide quantity takeoffs for construction estimates using AutoCAD. Support underground utilities such as potable, recycled, and fire water, storm drain and sanitary sewer. Domestical (U.S.) travel required up to 5% to visit worksites. Telecommuting permitted up to 40%.
Requirements
- Position requires Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Drafting Design or related field plus five (5) years of progressive work experience in the job offered or in a Senior Civil Design Technician occupation.
- Alternatively, employer will accept no degree with seven (7) years of work experience in the job offered or in a Senior Civil Design Technician occupation.
- Demonstrable experience modeling and detailing civil systems and structures with CADD software templates and standards.
- Demonstrable experience drafting civil elements: erosion control, roadways, demolitions, grading, detention basins, balancing earthwork, and ADA accessibility using Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
- Demonstrable proficiency in designing water, sewer, storm drain alignments and developing custom civil plans, sections, elevations, site layouts, details.
- Demonstrable competency in creating alignments for piping drawings using photographs and aerial photos applying Civil 3D best practices.
- Demonstrable experience ensuring CAD workflows are followed in project processes.
- Demonstrable experience managing central models, linked files, and documentation outputs.
- Demonstrable experience developing utility plans and profiles from survey data and markups provided by engineers with minimal direction.
- Demonstrable skills with AutoTURN for vehicular movement analysis for markup collaboration.
- Demonstrable experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams of drafters and engineers on design and drafting of multidisciplinary projects, ensuring compliance with drafting standards and verifying design quality.
- Demonstrable experience reviewing QA/QC markups to identify and resolve conflicts and prevent construction issues.
- Domestical (U.S.) travel required up to 5% to visit worksites.
- Telecommuting permitted up to 40%.
