About The Position

AECOM is a leader in water resources and climate resilience services. We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Civil / Climate Resilience Engineer to join our growing team in our Philadelphia, PA or Conshohocken, PA office and support climate resilience and other infrastructure projects in the Northeast and around the globe. We are looking for a technical expert with strong design and resilience strategy development skills to work with our multidiscipline teams and develop approaches to address issues related to natural disasters, climate change, and stormwater management. This position will focus on climate adaptation and resilience projects for local, state, and federal government and other public sector clients. The selected candidate will collaborate with some of AECOM’s foremost experts in resiliency, modeling, and design and will have an opportunity to mentor staff engineers and work with technical leaders on large scale planning and design projects.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Civil, Environmental, Coastal Engineering or related field +6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Experience with coastal infrastructure design/projects.
  • Experience with climate change risk/resilience subject matter and applying it in projects.
  • Experience with Philadelphia Metro Area climate resilience projects.
  • Experience working with clients in providing resilience services, particularly in water, transportation, energy, and transportation areas.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree Civil, Environmental, Coastal Engineering or in a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience developing design plans and climate change resilience strategies.
  • General understanding of H&H modeling and coastal flood risk models, including ADCIRC, SWAN, SWMM, and HEC-RAS.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to think strategically.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective client and agency presentations and written report preparation.
  • Ability to work with a team consisting of several technical disciplines.
  • Ability to monitor budget and schedule for all tasks.
  • Experience developing and reviewing proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating with our multidiscipline teams consisting of planners, scientists, and engineers on projects that include coastal studies, hydrology and hydraulics, flood risk management, coastal restoration, and design.
  • Leading resilience strategy development and concept, preliminary, and final design of nature-based solutions and hardscape features to provide flood control.
  • Coordinating state and federal agencies to gain consensus and approvals for work in jurisdictional areas and on designated facilities.
  • Civil engineering capabilities associated with the civil design for resilience projects.
  • Coordinating with technical disciplines including geotechnical, structural, civil, and environmental among others.
  • Managing schedule and budget.
  • Mentoring and training junior level staff.
  • Coordinating with clients and internal staff to identify critical planning issues.
  • Writing technical reports and memoranda.
  • Preparing and delivering presentations.
  • Assisting with business development opportunities and continued growth of AECOM’s water resources and resilience services.
