About The Position

As a Senior C.F.I. you will be responsible for instructing students in a classroom setting, conduct training flights, determine student proficiency, report on student progress and assisting the Chief Instructor and Assistant Chief Instructor as needed. Senior C.F.I.’s are responsible for training students in subjects such as risk management, aircraft systems, operating procedures, handling emergencies, problem analysis, aircraft navigation, radio operation and aerodynamics. You will also ensure students understand and practice all aspects of Summit Aviation’s policies and safety procedures. You will work closely with the Chief Instructor and Assistant Chief Instructor as you assist with some of their duties and progress into a more managerial role.

Requirements

  • Practical knowledge of: Federal Aviation Regulations Fundamentals of Instruction Practical Test Standards (PTS), aircraft systems, aerodynamics
  • High school Diploma or equivalent
  • FAA Certificated Flight Instructor (CFI)
  • Current FAA Medical Certificate

Responsibilities

  • Take inquiries from potential students and schedule flights for students.
  • Conduct tours of facilities and familiarize customers with Summit Aviation, Inc. policies, procedures, and flight training courses.
  • Perform those flight instructor duties authorized by the Federal Aviation Regulations in accordance with the approved Training Course Outline.
  • Maintain Instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for accurately maintaining all appropriate records including student training records, student logbooks, and computer records.
  • Regularly schedule each assigned student to ensure satisfactory progress through the course.
  • Ensure that course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met by all assigned students as stipulated in the applicable Training Course Outline.
  • Initiate stage check requests for assigned students.
  • Conduct student Stage Checks.
  • Responsible for the timely course completion of all flight students assigned, including completion of required paperwork.
  • Monitor the maintenance condition of the training aircraft and inform Inflight Pilot Training maintenance personnel of any questionable items.
  • Recommend curriculum and courseware improvements when appropriate and develop new curriculum or courseware as assigned.
  • File incident reports as necessary to report any observed safety violations or situations that may affect the safety of flight.
  • Perform IACRA associations.
  • Schedule student check rides with Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE).
  • Adjust student/aircraft flight schedule as maintenance dictates.
  • Maintain FAR Part 141 Ops Specs.
  • Attend administrative, standardization, in-service training, and instructor development meetings as assigned.
  • Assists Chief Instructor and Assistant Chief Instructor with scheduling/dispatch activities related to scheduling of students and aircraft for flight training.
  • Assists Chief Instructor and Assistant Chief Instructor with monitoring overall student progress.
  • Assists Chief Instructor and Assistant Chief Instructor with updating training materials.
  • Performs TransMedics tasks and duties
