The Senior Chemical Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing chemical transportation logistics to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations across the CSC. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 3–5 years of experience in fleet management or logistics within the transportation industry; chemical or hazardous materials experience strongly preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations, federal and state transportation standards, and chemical logistics best practices
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
  • Self-directed with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
  • Professional demeanor with strong leadership presence
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams

Responsibilities

  • Champion a safety-first culture in all aspects of chemical logistics and fleet operations.
  • Ensure a seamless and professional customer experience through responsive, accurate, and solution-oriented communication.
  • Oversee and prioritize chemical freight scheduling, working closely with Fleet Managers, Customer Service, and customers to maximize capacity, optimize driver utilization, and meet customer commitments.
  • Fleet Managers cannot turn down freight.
  • Strategically build, plan, and assign chemical loads to drivers in a fair and equitable manner, considering regulatory compliance, hours of service, customer requirements, and operational efficiency.
  • Support and assist, as directed, in the hiring, onboarding, and development of drivers and non-driving personnel.
  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, training, mentoring, and performance management for drivers, Fleet Managers, and Customer Service Representatives, including appropriate corrective action when needed.
  • Continuously evaluate staffing models and driver utilization to ensure the highest level of equipment and workforce efficiency.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant completion and processing of chemical load documentation, meeting company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain effective communication with operations associates and drivers regarding company standards, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a key communication link with internal and external customers as required.
  • Collaborate and communicate routinely with the CSC Manager, Operations Manager (where applicable), Regional Manager, Regional Safety Director, Customer Service Representatives, and Maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain current knowledge of DOT, federal, state, and chemical-specific transportation regulations, sharing updates as necessary.
  • Provide leadership coverage during extended hours, holidays, and special operational circumstances as needed.
  • Participate in and contribute to CSC financial reviews, including P&L performance, dashboards, KPIs, and operational metrics.
  • Travel as required to support remote operations, terminals, or special initiatives.
  • Assist Center and Operations Managers (where applicable) with Fleet Manager scheduling, staffing, and overtime management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the CSC Manager, Operations Manager (where applicable), or Regional Manager.
  • Assume responsibility for overall CSC chemical logistics operations in the absence of the CSC Manager and/or Operations Manager (where applicable).
