About The Position

The Senior Chalet Attendant safely operates the toboggan chutes and/or hayrides while providing excellent guest service and ensuring the safety of guests. The Senior attendant assists the Chalet Crew Leader with ice maintenance of the toboggan chutes, operates the tractor for hayrides, and monitors safety procedures and rider placement during toboggan ride operation. Essential Functions: 1. Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required. All Cleveland Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required. 2. Assists guests in and out of toboggans and/or hay wagons, while exhibiting excellent customer service. 3. Acts as an observer on the top platform of the toboggan chutes. Assists and directs Chalet Attendants while monitoring safety procedures and operation and guest placement onto sleds. Activates and responds to medical or emergency situations. 4. Effectively uses two-way radios for routine and emergency communication. 5. Enforces facility/safety rules with attention to guest safety, conduct, and equipment, including assisting guests on and off ride, adhering to height restrictions, explaining safety procedures, and assisting with placement of guests onto the ride. 6. Perform unskilled and as capable, semi-skilled work of a routine and repetitive nature in a responsible manner such as general cleaning and maintenance of the ride which includes snow and ice removal of stairs, platforms and landings. Assists Building and Ground Leads and Maintenance Specialists and with general and advanced ice maintenance of toboggan chutes and grounds, including making, patching & shaving, and monitoring ice. Equipment use may include a gravely sweeper and ice shaver. Assists with recording readings of the chiller. 7. Performs routine general cleaning and maintenance duties of building and grounds which includes restrooms, public areas, Chalet grounds, snack bar, and storage areas. 8. Lifts and transports hay bales and toboggans manually. Moves toboggan’s on and off of chutes and on and off the toboggan lift. 9. Operates toboggan lift and utility vehicles. 10. Assists Crew Leaders with ice maintenance. Performs daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment including toboggans, tractors, vehicles, facility, and grounds. 11. Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns. 12. Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel. 13. Performs duties in a safe and efficient manner. Maintains a safe work and participant environment.  Safely inspects and operates all equipment 14. Responds to hazardous situations or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective actions and notifies supervisor immediately. 15. Provide first aid treatment for park patrons and staff as necessary. 16. Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.

Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license under the laws of the State of Ohio
  • Must possess or obtain upon hire CPR/ First Aid Certification
  • One or more seasons of experience as a Chalet Attendant or previous supervisory experience
  • Must exhibit excellent customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to exhibit teamwork approach that recognizes contribution of all employees
  • Demonstrated ability to perform variable physical requirements of ride operations for Hayrides and Toboggan Chutes during public and private rental operations
  • Ability to operate a tractor
  • Demonstrate ability to perform variable physical requirements of park maintenance including general ride/grounds work
  • Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, special events and evenings as required
  • Ability to stand, climb stairs and lift up to 50 pounds on a continuous basis
  • Ability to operate general park maintenance equipment such as snow removal and cleaning tools including snow shovels, brooms, ice chippers, handheld and backpack blowers, and a log splitter; and janitorial equipment including vacuums and general cleaning tools
  • Ability to operate other equipment safely and effectively as assigned such as toboggan lift, utility vehicles, tractors and/or wagons
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, including employees and the general public
  • Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation with ability to communicate one-on-one or in group settings
  • Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and organization
  • Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative
