The incumbent for the Senior Certified Nursing Assistant (SCNA) position is responsible to provide direct nursing care to residents of the Baldomero Lopez State Veterans' Nursing Home of Florida, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with facility policies and procedures. Incumbent will provide assistance with all aspects of resident care as assigned by the shift supervisor, including activities of daily living, ambulation and mobility in facility. Respond promptly and courteously when answering call lights. Observe, identify, and report resident concerns or needs to the shift supervisor. Complete assignments timely, completely, accurately and in a cooperative manner. Follow established performance standards and perform duties according to nursing service and FDVA policies and procedures. Provide the necessary assistance when giving residents the following activities of daily living nursing care: oral hygiene, bathing, dressing, and grooming, hair and nail care, shaving, toileting, eating and drinking, and mobility Assist as needed with related functions to, for, and with residents to include activities such as escorting to meals, assisting with laundry, and assisting with participation in activities Perform restorative measures such as obtaining and recording vital signs/weights, and assistance with self-administration of medications. Document services provided within facility software/databases Consistently work cooperatively and respectfully with residents, family or resident representatives, facility staff, physicians, ARNP’s, consultants and ancillary service providers Follow Residents Rights policies at all times Maintain confidentiality of resident information Assist with monitoring and accountability of residents to enable medical personnel to accomplish health related tasks Attend all in-service programs, training classes, and domiciliary meetings Assume responsibility and accountability for information contained in the Employee Handbook Observe all facility safety, infection control and quality improvement, HIPPA policies and procedures, and internal quality improvement processes Perform other related duties as required This position is in the Career Service system.The State of Florida is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Affirmative Action Employer, and does not tolerate discrimination or violence in the workplace.

Requirements

  • Must have current Florida Certified Nursing Assistant Certification.
  • Must have current CPR Certification.
  • Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft WORD, Outlook, Excel, etc.
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in the English Language: Reading, Writing, Speaking &Understanding.
  • Successful completion of the due diligence process to include, but not limited to, a Level II background check and drug test.

  • Experience in long-term care or 120 bed skilled nursing facility.

Responsibilities
