About The Position

The Instrument Service Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring that surgical procedures are equipped with complete, accurate, and timely sterile instrumentation. This position involves collaboration with Sterile Processing, Operating Room, and Surgery Scheduling staff to proactively plan for surgeries, address instrument-related concerns during procedures, and manage the turnover of instrumentation effectively.

Requirements

• Completion of a Central Service Technician course or accredited Surgical Technology Course or equivalent experience.
• National Certified Registered Central Service Technician certification upon hire.
• National Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician certification upon hire.
• 3 years of recent experience in a Sterile Processing Department or instrument-related experience in an Operating Room environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a large multi-specialty facility with more than 12 operating rooms.
• Prior experience with an instrument tracking system, such as InstaCount Plus and ESI.

Responsibilities

• Ensure complete and accurate sterile instrumentation for surgical procedures.
• Collaborate with Sterile Processing, Operating Room, and Surgery Scheduling staff to plan for scheduled surgeries.
• Respond immediately to resolve instrument-related concerns during surgical cases.
• Manage shared or limited instrument resources between cases and departments.
• Monitor and manage the standard and rapid turnover of instrumentation, including flash sterilization.
