About The Position

CenterPoint Energy is looking for a Senior Engineer in their CEHE Electric Division to join our Transmission Contract Design Team, located in Houston, TX. You will have the ability to provide guidance and oversight to outside Contract Engineering Firms for the design and analysis of the transmission system projects with regards to design, material acquisition, construction support, inspection, and replacement of facilities in support of transmission projects.

Requirements

• Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• A Professional Engineer (PE) license or active pursuit of a PE license in the State of Texas.
• Senior Engineer: requires a minimum of 5 years of Transmission Line Design experience.
• A Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

Nice To Haves

• A Master of Science degree in Engineering can be substituted for 1 year of experience.
• A PhD degree in Engineering can be substituted for 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide project oversight to assigned Contract Engineering Firms.
• Provide technical guidance to assigned Contract Engineering Firms and Operations staff.
• Provide technical guidance concerning equipment applications and ratings requirements.
• Provide technical expertise for utility interconnection requirements of large industrial customers, independent power producers and tie-line interconnections.
• Make presentations (written or oral) to management and others on pertinent issues.
• Serve as a department representative on task forces, committee, and cross-functional teams.
• Interface with inspectors, engineers, construction personnel, warehousing personnel, purchasing agents, vendors and management concerning projects and issues.
• Train others in the department.
