About The Position

As a Sr. Catia Designer, you’ll be part of our Stanley Black and Decker, Outdoor Group located in Valley City, OH. You will be responsible for 2D and 3D CAD design for new product development and maintenance projects in the Medium Format Mower and Snow product platform. You must be a problem solver who is eager to design new products. You will work closely with the engineering team to bring concepts and ideas into the 3D space which ultimately become new products sitting at major retailers all around the globe.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-year vocational-technical training degree or equivalent work experience in mechanical 3D design, with 5+ years of experience in design position utilizing CATIA CAD software.
  • Demonstrated experience modeling parts, assemblies, and drawings utilizing CATIA CAD software.
  • Experience using Product Lifecycle Management software (Teamcenter and/or Windchill preferred).
  • Ability and desire to mentor designers and engineers that have limited experience with CATIA CAD software.
  • Ability to interact with engineers, industrial designers, manufacturing, and others with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to model parts for a variety of manufacturing methods including, but not limited to, plastic injection molding, stamped steel, and other metal fabricated parts such as weldments.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of outdoor power equipment, mechanical principles, and electronics technology is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create and modify 3D part models to support new product development projects using CAD software.
  • Create and maintain 3D layouts for assemblies varying from simple to complex.
  • Create and modify 2D drawings with an understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
  • Maintain proper part revision status and assembly bill of materials in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
  • Ensure all CAD best practices are followed for all parts, drawings, and assemblies.
  • Aid in the documentation of CAD best practices to help ensure consistency within the department.
  • Support the engineering team during prototype builds to understand how part design impacts the final product.
