The Senior Catering & Event Manager is responsible for maximizing revenues and meeting/event planner satisfaction. They will focus on the sale and service of corporate and social events. In addition, this position will provide support to all group rooms and event processes/procedures from the point of sale until the departure of the group, maximize revenue and ensure event/meeting planner & guest satisfaction. They must be self-motivated and committed to delivering consistently high levels of guest service, with strong attention to detail and reliable follow-through. They must demonstrate refined communication skills and the ability to remain focused and composed during fast-paced periods.

  • Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through lead and inquiry response, new revenue generation, site inspections and written communication
  • Oversee and manage both catering and group events from the time of booking through post event phase, including but not limited to menu creation/selection, logistical planning, Event Order creation & distribution, reservation management and VIP services
  • Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance
  • Participate in business review process, pre-convention meetings, training and other sales-related meetings as required
  • Work with other departments within the hotel to provide quality service to customers
  • Attend trade shows, community events and industry meetings
  • Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers
  • Professionally represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events
  • Conduct performance evaluations and discipline staff when needed
  • Maintain a professional and personable appearance at all times, according to hotel standards
  • Successfully achieve the hotel’s core values of ownership, innovation, craft, respect, and community
  • Perform work that is directly related to the hotel’s business operations and customers, exercising discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance
  • Perform all other duties as requested
  • Previous senior experience in a similar role in a luxury or upper upscale hospitality operation
  • Proficient in managing and using sales automation and PMS systems
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including complaint handling and resolution
  • Extensive knowledge of forecasting sales and interpreting/analyzing results to plan and conduct budgetary analysis
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage multiple concurrent demands while prioritizing responsibilities
  • Aptitude to perform numerical analysis of data and formulate conclusions and solutions
  • Approachable, authentic, and engaging demeanor, setting an example for all Associates
  • A proven track record in a management role with the ability to inspire, motivate, and engage
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective training
  • Results oriented and highly motivated self-starter
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, which may include weekends and holidays
