About The Position

Schnabel Engineering is seeking a Senior CAD Designer with a background in tunneling, utility, or civil/structural design to support our growing Tunnel Business Unit. We are looking for a motivated candidate with attention to detail, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong multi-disciplinary team. Candidate will be assigned to Schnabel office in Seattle, WA, Honolulu, HI, Boise, ID, Longmont, CO, or Sacramento, CA. Remote work from home is permitted for this position dependent on project needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent practical experience.
10+ years of experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D in a civil design capacity.
Proficiency with the latest version of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D, including experience in developing drawing sets and figures from base data (i.e. survey, GIS, point cloud, engineering sketches, etc.), and based on engineering input and guidance.
Proficiency with the latest version of Revit.
Critical thinking and the ability to begin and progress designs.
Positive attitude and ability to work well in a team environment.
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and flexible to changes in work assignments as changes occur in project needs.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check
Ability to pass a pre-employment screening

Experience developing Renderings in Infraworks is a plus. Experience in Microstation is a plus.

Responsibilities

Manage CAD drafting standards and procedures for Schnabel’s Tunnel Business Unit.
Develop and utilize BIM models for tunnel and underground applications.
Prepare 2D CAD drawings (plans, profiles, sections, and details) for contract documents based on input and guidance from engineers and other design staff and in accordance with internal drafting standards.
Prepare Civil3D drawings for tunnel projects including grading plans, tunnel alignment, profiles, and sections. Demonstrated familiarity with Civil3D Pipe Networks is required.
Maintain drawing files, CAD standards, and other digital files in accordance with internal and client standards and procedures.
Manage drawing set development in cloud-based platform, such as AutoDesk Construction Cloud (ACC), BIM 360, and Bentley ProjectWise.
Prepare 3D models for displaying complex features or structures.
Prepare graphics for engineering reports, professional papers, and presentations.
Participate in professional trainings to develop and implement new skills related to the various disciplines of work.
Perform training of other technical staff on drafting standards and procedures.
Use architectural and engineering scales.
Create new drawings from historical as-built drawings and records.
Read and interpret drawings and mark-ups.
Self-check work for completeness and accuracy.
Willingness to travel for meetings with contractors, engineers, and project managers.
