The Senior CAD Designer, Tolerance Expert is responsible for developing and modifying engineering designs and preparing detailed drawings for medical implants and instrumentation according to specifications of their product line. Additionally, the Senior CAD Designer, Tolerance Expert will be tasked with conducting in-depth tolerance analysis utilizing the Sigmetrix CETOL 6σ software, reviewing drawing tolerances, and providing overall tolerance guidance to Globus Medical engineering teams.

Requirements

  • 10 years' experience of PTC Creo Parametric software or equivalent 3D CAD software (Pro/ENGINEER, SolidWorks, Inventor/Fusion 360, Solid Edge/NX, etc.) for design and drafting.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering, design, or manufacturing, preferably in the medical device field.
  • 5 years' experience of Sigmetrix CETOL 6σ software or equivalent for comprehensive 3D model-based tolerance analysis.
  • Associate's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Design, or Drafting and Design; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques/processes, geometric dimensioning and tolerance standards; Strong self-starting skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment; Multi-tasking abilities required for successful job completion.
  • Well organized, detail oriented and team player.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Windchill PDM, SolidWorks, and/or SolidWorks PDM is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design and detail medical instruments and implants using PTC Creo Parametric software.
  • Interact with engineering, manufacturing, and quality personnel to complete required tasks.
  • Work with the in-house prototype shop and outside vendors to ensure manufacturability.
  • Communicate concepts to the in-house design teams. Develop and oversee designs from concept through production.
  • Provide comprehensive 3D model-based tolerance analysis services to engineering teams in the development phase.
  • Prepare detailed tolerance analysis reports utilizing specialized CAD packages.
  • Provide Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) guidance to engineering teams.
  • Conduct GD&T training seminars on a semi-regular basis.
