About The Position

SupplyOne Inc., a leader in packaging solutions and supply chain management, is seeking a Sr. Buyer with specialized experience within the packing industry, more specifically corrugated boxes. The person in this role ensures that customers receive the right products at the right time by maintaining reliable, cost-effective, and wellplanned inventory levels. This role is responsible for executing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, managing vendor relationships, monitoring inventory, and partnering cross-functionally to support operational excellence. Candidates with experience in packaging materials, custom packaging, printing, or similar manufacturing environments are strongly preferred.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience required.
• Packaging industry experience (flexible packaging, corrugated, print, materials sourcing, etc.) strongly preferred.
• Strong negotiation, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Solid understanding of inventory management principles.
• Experience collaborating with sales and operations teams.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong ethics, professionalism, and personal integrity.
• Proficiency with basic arithmetic (e.g., gross profit calculations).
• Ability to influence cross-functionally and navigate conflict constructively.
• Demonstrated initiative in professional development.

Responsibilities

• Purchasing & Procurement Execution
• Process and confirm purchase orders the day they appear in REACT and communicate order needs clearly and promptly.
• Analyze purchase requests for appropriate need, volume, price, and timing.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and freight arrangements to optimize cost and service.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier price lists.
• Inventory & Supply Management
• Manage open POs, back orders, and inventory levels to ensure on-time, in-full, in-spec delivery (DIFOTIS).
• Monitor sales trends, usage patterns, and economic conditions to anticipate inventory needs and adjust purchasing plans.
• Maintain min/max inventory levels and provide proactive recommendations to avoid stockouts or overstock situations.
• Assist in managing slow-moving or obsolete inventory.
• Vendor & Cross-Functional Communication
• Build and maintain strong relationships with packaging suppliers and manufacturing partners.
• Resolve vendor issues quickly and escalate when needed for timely resolution.
• Serve as a liaison between customer service, sales, design, manufacturing, shipping, and strategic procurement.
• Respond to all internal and external communications by close of business daily.
• Product Setup & Quality
• Facilitate new item setup, including tap-offs, proofs, and specification verification.
• Ensure accurate documentation and maintain thorough records for audits and quality assurance.
• Expedite materials as needed based on customer or production requirements.
• Strategic Contribution
• Use market knowledge and trend awareness to make informed purchasing decisions.
• Participate in procurement councils, initiatives, and process-improvement projects.
• Demonstrate continuous improvement in purchasing practices and supplier performance.
