About The Position

The Buyer will demonstrate competencies in sourcing raw materials and components directly related to the development of New and Existing Products. The Buyer will demonstrate competencies in making sourcing decisions with raw materials and components in a manufacturing environment, delivering annual cost savings projects, and negotiating with suppliers on long term supply management. The Buyer will also demonstrate strong and agile project management skills and facilitate/build relationships with suppliers and internal customers to obtain key initiatives that are in line with Ameristar's vision and goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree Preferred - Preferably Supply Chain Management, Business, Accounting, or Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of procurement experience directly related to sourcing and purchase order management
  • Experience in procurement with New Product Development (Preferred)
  • Experience with Raw Materials and manufacturing related sourcing (Preferred)
  • Experience in managing supplier performance objectives (quality, price, delivery)
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt (Preferred)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills required
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Strong negotiation skills required
  • Compliance with B&B Roadway and Security Solution's principles and standards of Ethical Supply Management Conduct

Responsibilities

  • Propose cost savings projects and deliver annual cost savings target (3% of annual spend)
  • Evaluate new and existing suppliers for all purchases assigned
  • Identify process improvements within procurement
  • Interpret specifications and drawings provided by engineering and provide quotations and sources for products needed in accordance to project timelines
  • Recommend alternatives to products specified by Engineering and sales
  • Analyze costs for purchased products for Direct Material on existing and New Product
  • Assemble facts and data to make informed decisions on issues related to pricing, delivery, and quality
  • Process daily purchase orders, follow up on confirmations and late material deliveries
  • Track quality issues related to suppliers and manage corrective actions
