About The Position

The Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer will play a key role in delivering reporting and analytics solutions that support our Accounting business unit. This role requires a unique combination of deep expertise in Microsoft Power BI, strong understanding of accounting and finance business processes, and proven ability to partner with stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable insights. The ideal candidate will not only be technically proficient across the BI lifecycle (requirements gathering, data modeling, visualization, deployment, and support) but will also be fluent in accounting principles—helping to ensure solutions meet the needs of Controllers, Finance Leaders, and Accounting Managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of BI experience, with a proven track record supporting Accounting or Finance business functions.
  • Strong understanding of core accounting processes (GL, AP/AR, reconciliations, close, reporting) and ability to translate them into BI requirements.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and managing Power BI solutions (import, DirectQuery, live connections).
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience working with large, complex accounting/financial datasets.
  • Experience with Microsoft BI Stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS).
  • Proficiency in DAX and implementing advanced calculations within Power BI.
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI architecture, premium capacity, and incremental refresh.
  • Ability to design and implement security models aligned to accounting and financial data sensitivity.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with demonstrated ability to partner directly with Controllers, Finance Leaders, and other accounting professionals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across Accounting, Finance, and IT teams.
  • Effective presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex data insights to senior Accounting leadership.
  • A proactive problem-solver who takes ownership and initiative in delivering BI solutions.
  • Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving business and regulatory environment.
  • Stays informed on emerging BI trends, especially those relevant to Finance and Accounting analytics.

Nice To Haves

  • Power BI certification strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience migrating legacy accounting/finance reports to Power BI is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy BI solutions that address core accounting and financial reporting needs (e.g., general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, close processes, and financial performance analysis).
  • Build interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and applications that enable accountants, controllers, and finance leaders to analyze KPIs and regulatory/operational metrics.
  • Partner with Accounting stakeholders to document requirements, validate outputs, and ensure alignment with business objectives and audit standards.
  • Create data models and semantic layers tailored to accounting and finance use cases, ensuring consistency and accuracy across reporting.
  • Translate complex accounting data into intuitive visualizations that drive decision-making and operational efficiency.
  • Incorporate end-user feedback to promote analytics self-service, adoption, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide training and knowledge-sharing to accounting end-users and power users.
  • Collaborate with IT, Data Engineering, and cross-functional BI teams to ensure data integrity, optimized performance, and compliance with governance standards.
  • Administer and monitor Power BI Service, including capacity, performance, and row-level security tailored for sensitive financial data.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor onshore/offshore resources supporting Accounting BI projects.
