About The Position

We’re seeking a Senior Business Development Specialist who is genuinely energized by the startup and venture capital ecosystem and understands what resonates with founders, investors, and growth-stage companies. Partnering closely with our Emerging Companies + Venture Capital team, this role will focus on strengthening key relationships and cultivating new opportunities that drive sustainable growth. A central part of the position is leading the strategy and execution of high-impact events—developing event plans aligned with growth goals, managing logistics end-to-end, collaborating with internal stakeholders, and actively attending and networking to deepen relationships across the ecosystem. Success in this role requires strong collaboration, sharp attention to detail, and a consistent focus on delivering an exceptional client experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; 4+ years of marketing experience (law firm experience preferred), with interest in supporting high-growth and startup clients.
  • Knowledge of Emerging Companies + Venture Capital practices strongly desired; direct experience with startup or venture ecosystems a plus.
  • Strong foundation in core marketing strategy, including innovative campaign development, competitive intelligence, market research, and pitch/RFP execution.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling content for founders, investors, and broader business audiences.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented project manager able to prioritize competing demands in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong business acumen, sound judgment, and a client-first approach to identifying and advancing growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute actionable business development and marketing plans, including budget recommendations aligned with firmwide strategy.
  • Partner with practice group leaders to drive strategic growth initiatives and foster cross-practice collaboration.
  • Monitor legal and industry trends to identify new client opportunities and implement proactive growth strategies.
  • Implement marketing initiatives and campaigns on time and within budget to support practice group goals.
  • Plan and execute high-impact events, sponsorships, and client seminars to elevate firm visibility and engagement.
  • Draft and maintain compelling marketing materials, website content, pitches, RFP responses, and directory submissions (e.g., Chambers).
  • Conduct competitive intelligence and market research to support targeting, positioning, and pitch strategy.
  • Identify and advance cross-selling, speaking, sponsorship, and partnership opportunities to strengthen market presence and drive revenue growth.
