About The Position

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a senior-level Budget Analyst who assists in the preparing, allocating, and monitoring of the agency's $1.6 billion annual budget. Reviews and consolidates a variety of financial data with team members. Generates ad hoc reports and maintains existing reports. Identifies, investigates and seeks resolutions of anomalies/errors, analyzes trends, and creates monthly projections. Participates in the annual budget process, provides valuable insights to support informed decision-making, and executes the agency's budget. This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures. This position works in office full-time for at least 6 months prior to Hybrid schedule being submitted for approval. Requirements

  • Knowledge of: Federal, state, and local laws, policies, and practices pertinent to the area of specialization
  • Knowledge of: ADCRR's and State of Arizona's organizational structures
  • Knowledge of: Reconciliation processes used by the agency to ensure all agency reports are reconciled with AZ360
  • Knowledge of: The hierarchy of funding codes and the flow of information through the system from initial input to payment and reporting
  • Knowledge of: Mathematics
  • Knowledge of: Business English grammar, composition, spelling, and punctuation
  • Knowledge of: Computers and demonstrated experience with various software including Google, Microsoft Office, AZ360 FIN, AZ360HRM, and the Arizona Procurement Portal Statewide System

Nice To Haves

  • At least three (3) year of governmental budget/finance experience OR completion of a financial degree from an accredited college or university

Responsibilities

  • Downloads, validates, compiles, organizes and interprets data from the state financial system of record and other various sources
  • Analyzes source data, tracks and monitors expenditures, reviews expenditure trends and calculates budget projections
  • Cooperates in the production of reports such as the monthly Status of Funds report, Quarterly Capital Outlay Report, Annual Per Capita Report, and the Annual Budget Request
  • Prepares periodic and ad hoc reports
  • Prepares fiscal impact analysis on proposed legislation
  • Understands and completes the allocation and load of new budgets
  • Drafts budget proposals for annual budget requests
  • Provides technical support to program areas and complex business offices
  • Attends required trainings and meetings
  • Drives on State business
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
