About The Position

Patriot Engineering and Environmental is growing and is looking for a Senior Brownfield & Remediation Professional to join our talented and impactful team in our Dayton, OH office. Patriot is expanding our environmental practice in the Greater Cincinnati /Dayton region and are seeking an experienced senior environmental professional specializing in brownfield assessment, remediation strategy, and regulatory closure. Patriot Engineering and Environmental is an Employee Owned, diverse engineering firm with multi-state locations and presence providing geotechnical, environmental, and construction materials testing services and consultation to commercial, industrial and governmental clients. This position will be part of a very skilled team that works closely with Regional Environmental Group Manager and other technical leads, managing and performing environmental compliance services. Ohio is experiencing major redevelopment momentum—from legacy industrial corridors along the Ohio River to urban infill and adaptive reuse projects throughout the region. We are expanding our leadership-caliber team to deliver technically rigorous, regulator-respected, and developer-aligned environmental solutions. The successful candidate has extensive experience and demonstrates knowledge as follows: Phase I & Phase II Environmental Site Assessments Ohio Voluntary Action Program (VAP) and Kentucky Brownfield Program Remedial Investigation / Feasibility Studies (RI/FS) Risk-Based Corrective Action (RBCA) Soil and groundwater remediation design Vapor intrusion evaluation and mitigation No Further Action (NFA) strategy and regulatory negotiation Brownfield redevelopment advisory services EPA and state brownfield grant support Excellent report/document preparation and review skills and highly proficient in the use of current Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). Ability to communicate effectively with staff, colleagues, contractors, clients, etc. Ability and willingness to act as a mentor or advisor to junior and entry level staff. Must be adaptable and flexible with demonstrated willingness to take on tasks or projects outside of the position’s normal scope in an effort to add to the office’s and company’s success. Willingness to build a sustaining practice and engage in business development efforts including being active in professional organizations Work directly with clients professionally and display service-oriented attitude to address their operational, remediation, and development challenges and goals. Build, sustain and mentor high performing team with focus on professional acumen, client service and QA/QC.

Requirements

  • Registered/Licensed geologist/engineer (10 to 15 years’ experience minimum) with current license in Ohio, Kentucky and/or Indiana or capability of becoming licensed in at least one of these states within six (6) months.
  • 10+ years of demonstrated environmental consulting experience in Ohio, Kentucky, or Indiana
  • Established relationships within the Cincinnati development, municipal, or industrial sectors
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary remediation projects
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with underground storage tank closures and petroleum release investigations in Ohio (Ohio Bureau of Underground Storage Tank Regulations guidelines) and/or Kentucky (Kentucky Underground Storage Tank Branch guidelines) including knowledge of state petroleum release insurance fund guidelines.
  • Extensive working knowledge and experience with Ohio EPA Voluntary Action Program (VAP) regulations
  • HAZWOPER 40
  • Experience identifying and developing new business opportunities.
  • Ability to make decisions and perform as an independent thinker and leader but also collaborate with project team personnel.
  • Strong technical writing and data management, organizational and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • PE, PG, or other relevant licensure preferred.
  • Ohio VAP Certified Professional a plus.
