Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Masters a plus.
  • 7+ years of professional design engineering work related to bridges or structures.
  • P.E. license required in Florida or ability to obtain one.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil3D a plus.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness for continued learning.
  • Knowledge of FDOT, AASHTO and AREMA design codes a plus.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the Bridges & Structures group of the Company’s Infrastructure Division on various projects including new or rehabilitated highway, rail and pedestrian bridges and culverts, retaining walls and temporary structures for contractors.
  • Lead the technical design and assigned staff on bridge projects, developing work plans for various bridge designs.
  • Coordinate with other interfacing disciplines and perform calculations, computer modeling, design and drawing reviews, cost estimating, develop specifications/construction documents and lead construction phase support tasks.
  • Assist in the mentoring and development of design staff.
  • Participate in the development and updates of internal standards of practices.
  • Perform quality control and assurance checks on design computations, computer modeling, CAD drawings, reports, estimates and specifications.
  • Serve as a point of contact for clients, other design professionals, and contractors.
  • Act as quality coordinator for discipline led projects.
  • Assist in the development of technical narratives, scope and fee for project pursuits.
  • May serve on professional association committees for establishment of policies, standards, procedures, and research at a local, state, or national level.
  • May represent the company and present projects at professional and technical society conferences and seminars.
  • May stamp/sign drawings or reports and/or serve as Engineer of Record for the project.
