Fuss & O’Neill is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to play a key technical and leadership role within our growing bridge practice in New Hampshire. This position offers the opportunity to lead complex bridge design and rehabilitation projects, contribute technical expertise across a wide range of structural challenges, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on high-profile transportation initiatives. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in ME, NH, or VT (or ability to acquire within 6 months)
  • 8+ years of bridge engineering and structural design experience
  • Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications (preferred)
  • Experience with state DOT bridge programs and standards
  • Proficiency with bridge design and analysis software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead technical tasks and collaborate across disciplines

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with bridge rehabilitation and inspection programs (preferred)
  • Prior project management or task leadership experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical lead for the planning, design, analysis, rehabilitation, and inspection of highway and pedestrian bridges
  • Prepare and oversee development of bridge design plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports
  • Perform and/or review structural analyses, load ratings, and design calculations in accordance with AASHTO and state DOT standards
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers and support staff, fostering technical excellence and professional development
  • Coordinate with clients, DOTs, municipalities, and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Participate in bridge inspections and condition evaluations as required
  • Support project management activities including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and quality control
  • Contribute to business development efforts including proposals, client relationships, and technical presentations
