About The Position

MPC has an opportunity for a Senior Business Planning and Analysis Analyst. The role is responsible for capturing, analyzing, forecasting, and reporting financial and operational data in support of Marathon Pipe Line. This Senior Analyst will own the capital and expense project portfolios. These responsibilities are carried out in support of the annual Business Plan, monthly and quarterly reporting and forecasting, and other related initiatives. The Senior Analyst will regularly interface with senior leaders, managers and staff as well as personnel in the BP&A and Accounting organizations. This role will report to the Business Planning & Analysis Director – Pipeline and be based in Findlay.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline required.
  • Six (6) years in Accounting, Finance, Commercial, or related field.

  • Proficiency with analytical tools such as Power BI

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the development and presentation of divisional growth/maintenance capital and expense project budgets, working closely with Marathon Pipe Line Budget Liaisons, Asset Development and L&SE contacts.
  • Coordinates and manages the current year Capital and Expense Budget portfolio in a manner that maximizes company and shareholder value.
  • Adhere to budget targets while tracking reimbursable projects based on new and existing agreements.
  • Leads MPL’s Refinery Support Services effort for DOT compliance and non-DOT project support. This includes consolidating each refinery’s project budget and providing quarterly project status updates.
  • Develops advanced financial models to support monitoring of KPIs and performance metrics providing real-time analytics and insights into performance versus expectations. This may include some scenario, sensitivity, and/or variance analyses.
  • Collaborates and interfaces with Marathon Pipe Line leadership and participates in meetings to discuss analysis and/or analytical needs to support ongoing improvement.
  • Actively seeks and implements ways to enhance processes, systems, or automation to provide more time for in-depth analysis and commentary.
