About The Position

The Senior Bookkeeper is a key contributor to the financial accuracy, compliance, and operational effectiveness of the organization. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and supporting the accounting team in areas such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and compliance filings. Working closely with the Controller, the Senior Bookkeeper supports month-end close activities, audits, budgeting, and forecasting processes while ensuring adherence to internal controls and ISO 9001 standards. This position requires a hands-on accounting professional with strong technical expertise and experience in a manufacturing environment who can help maintain efficient, well-documented financial processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance preferred (Associate's with solid experience accepted)
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Profieciency in SAGE 100 and Microsoft Office Suite preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, month-end close and sales/use tax compliance
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorites
  • High level of integrity with the ability to handle confidential information

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and execute all aspects of daily accounting operations including AP, AR, Cash Receipts, Credit Card Transactions, and GL Entries.
  • Manage employee expense reporting and reimbursements, ensuring policy compliance and accuracy.
  • Prepare and support monthly close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Maintain and reconcile inventory values, standard costing, and throughput margin in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prepare and file multi-state sales and use tax returns; maintain exemption certificates and compliance documentation.
  • Collaborate with external accountants during monthly and year-end closings and audits.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Participate in special projects, system implementations, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
