About The Position

Hays Electrical Services is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior BIM Designer with 10+ years of experience to support complex BIM and Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) efforts. This role focuses on advanced Revit modeling, trade coordination, clash detection, and the development of high‑quality construction deliverables. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of BIM workflows and strong communication skills. Electrical experience is strongly preferred.

Requirements

10+ years of experience in BIM design, VDC, or electrical engineering/design within the construction or engineering industry.
Proven experience in using Revit for electrical systems modeling is required.
Experience with electrical system design, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security, and low-voltage systems.
Familiarity with clash detection and BIM coordination processes.
Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks (or similar BIM software).
Excellent understanding of electrical engineering principles, systems, and standards.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve design issues quickly.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related field experience preferred.
BIM certification or formal training in Revit/Navisworks is a plus.

Responsibilities

Develop, manage, and enhance detailed BIM models for electrical building systems using Revit.
Support advanced modeling for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, low voltage, and specialty systems.
Ensure accurate integration of electrical systems with architectural, structural, mechanical, and other trades.
Apply senior‑level modeling expertise to ensure constructability and precision throughout the project lifecycle.
Lead multidisciplinary coordination efforts, including clash detection and resolution using Navisworks or similar tools.
Work closely with project managers, engineers, designers, superintendents, and trade partners to ensure design accuracy and alignment with project needs.
Participate in BIM/VDC coordination meetings and communicate solutions clearly and professionally.
Support construction teams by providing updated models, deliverables, and clarifications as required.
Conduct thorough quality checks on models, drawings, and deliverables to ensure compliance with project standards, codes, and best practices.
Maintain accurate model updates based on design revisions, field feedback, and as‑built conditions.
Promote and uphold Hays Electrical’s BIM standards, consistency, and workflow efficiency.
Develop construction-ready drawings, schematics, and detailed electrical documentation derived from the BIM model.
Produce reports, model exports, and schedules to support coordination and construction activities.
Monitor project progress and proactively identify design challenges or schedule impacts.
Utilize Revit and AutoCAD for detailed electrical modeling and documentation creation.
Use Navisworks or equivalent coordination tools for clash detection and resolution.
Stay current with industry trends, BIM innovations, and evolving software capabilities to enhance team performance.
