About The Position

William Blair is searching for a Senior Benefit Analyst to join our dynamic team. This role requires working on-site two days a week at our Chicago office. We are looking for an experienced, data-driven Senior Benefits Analyst to help manage our retirement programs as well as partner on compliance analysis and reporting for our health & welfare plans. You will ensure compliance with plan rules, funding, legislative requirements, and internal practices in the US and other William Blair global locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience administering 401(K) retirement programs, benefits administration and analysis, preferably with a US-based multinational company.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, statistical, and reporting skills to review and evaluate financial data and legal documents.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, basic calculations, VLOOKUPs, and managing multiple data sets.
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply knowledge to problem-solving.
  • Self-motivated; works well independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Knowledge of various HRIS systems is a plus, with a strong preference for Workday.
  • Exposure to difficult or complex projects while managing multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and help transition into the future seamlessly.
  • Administer all aspects of the US DC and DB retirement plans, including audits, compliance, and employee inquiries.
  • Apply legislation and regulations when preparing, analyzing, and interpreting plan documents and related materials including audits and annual filings.
  • Identify operational errors, support audit reports, present findings to leadership, and develop corrective action strategies.
  • Administer the annual DC and DB retirement plans audit, partnering with auditors, finance, payroll, HRIS, and vendors to ensure accurate completion in the appropriate timelines.
  • Help develop and edit employee, partner and committee communications including presentation materials, company intranet and company-wide communications with respect to retirement and benefit plans.
  • Oversee the timeline and implementation project plan of new retirement/pension benefits programs and new vendors including the communications, technology, and process documentation of the new service delivery.
  • Proactively identify problems, trends, and solutions to reduce escalations or issues.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., DOL, ERISA, IRS, GDPR) to meet legal requirements and file necessary reports.
  • Partner with vendors, brokers, and cross-functional teams, including Payroll, HRIS, and Finance.
  • Support the preparation and filing of required benefits-related reports, such as Form 5500 and PBGC filings.
