About The Position

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our growing engineering team and help build the high-performance backend services that powers our core personalized experiences. You’ll work at the intersection of genomic data and production-scale AI, building the infrastructure that delivers intelligent, data-driven features to our users.
In this role, you’ll support and expand part of our core backend, collaborating closely with other senior engineers. You’ll help build, and maintain scalable infrastructure, APIs, and event-driven services. We’re looking for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, takes ownership of complex problems, and writes clean, reliable code with performance and maintainability in mind.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience
• Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript
• Experience with functional programming
• Deep experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and service based architectures
• Proven ability to work independently while collaborating closely with key teammates
• Passion for building systems that deliver exceptional customer experiences
• Strong debugging, testing, and performance-tuning skills

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with genomics, health data, or personalization systems
• Startup or fast-paced environment experience
• Familiar with Rust
• Work with OpenAI APIs and other AI frameworks to build intelligent, personalized user experiences

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain performant backend services in TypeScript
• Support and optimize production ready backend systems
• Integrate and manage services like PostgreSQL, MySQL, AWS SQS, and Centrifugo
• Collaborate with the lead AI backend engineer to intregate with our AI infrastructure
• Ensure high system reliability, security, and observability across services
• Own and drive end-to-end feature development with a strong eye on user experience
• Champion clean code, technical excellence, and continuous improvement
• Maintain, modernize, and migrate legacy code.
