The Senior Designer Role The Senior Designer is responsible for translating product strategy into innovative, user centered bags and soft accessories designs across one or more product categories. This role brings creative vision to life through trend forecasting, sketching, material selection, and collaboration with cross functional teams. The Senior Designer partners closely with Product Managers, Brand Managers and Product Development teams to ensure designs are aesthetically compelling, technically feasible, on brand, and commercially viable. This role acts as the creative lead, translating market trends and user insights into designs that guide development from concept through production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Accessories Design, Apparel Design, Industrial Design, or equivalent experience
  • 5 to 8 years of bags, accessories, or soft goods design experience, preferably in fashion or lifestyle consumer goods
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating creative range, trend awareness, and commercial success
  • Expert knowledge of bag construction, pattern engineering, and soft goods development processes
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and CAD tools
  • Deep understanding of fabric properties, hardware specifications, and technical requirements
  • Experience collaborating with Product Management, Product Development, Apparel Design and cross functional teams
  • Ability to balance creative vision with commercial realities and user needs
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to articulate design decisions
  • Experience working with overseas vendors and managing sample development
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for vendor partnerships, trend research, and industry events
  • Passionate about fashion and lifestyle bags, accessories, innovation, and delivering meaningful consumer experiences

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with 3D design software (e.g., CLO, Browzwear, VStitcher) is a plus
  • Knowledge of PLM software (e.g., Centric, Flex, NGC) is a plus
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior designers is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Translate product strategy and category roadmaps into compelling seasonal bags & soft accessories collections
  • Conduct trend and material research for assigned bags & soft accessories categories
  • Create original sketches, CADs and design presentations that communicate creative vision
  • Create and own technical specifications and tech packs to ensure construction, functionality, and quality standards are met
  • Develop seasonal color palettes, print and graphic concepts, and material stories
  • Select fabrics, hardware, trims, and embellishments that align with design vision and product requirements
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Brand Managers to ensure designs meet user needs, cost targets, and timeline goals
  • Present design concepts to cross functional teams and incorporate feedback
  • Maintain design libraries, trend boards, and competitive analysis to inform future seasons
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to source innovative materials, hardware and develop custom components
  • Attend proto reviews and provide design direction throughout the sample development process
  • Stay current on industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging design technologies
  • Ensure all designs align with brand identity and long-term portfolio strategy
