  • Design and build scalable backend systems and APIs that power our core operational and partner platforms.
  • Refactor and improve existing services to increase developer productivity and reduce tech debt.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (frontend, product, operations) to translate business requirements into reliable, maintainable code.
  • Implement testing best practices (BDD/TDD) to ensure quality, reliability, and performance.
  • Contribute to architecture discussions and help define the evolution of our backend systems. Proactively propose alternative solutions, weighing risks and rewards thoughtfully.
  • Mentor teammates through code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance. Embrace feedback loops and share learnings from challenges to drive team growth.
  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience with a focus on modern frameworks and scalable architecture.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or Ruby.
  • Deep understanding of RESTful API design, database modeling, and querying.
  • Strong grasp of design patterns — and the wisdom to know when to apply them.
  • Experience with BDD or TDD methodologies.
  • Experience with Django or Ruby on Rails (strong plus).
  • Experience with Heroku, AWS, and microservices or minilith architectures (strong plus).
  • Salary: $155,000-170,000/year + equity
