About The Position
Yoodli is a private, personalized, and AI-powered speech coach dedicated to helping people improve their communication skills without judgment. The company has secured over $7M in seed funding from prominent investors and has been featured in major publications. Yoodli recently partnered with Toastmasters International to extend its AI-powered coaching to over 300,000 members globally. It is a mission-focused, fast-growing startup based out of the Allen AI Institute in Seattle, with a team comprising alumni from leading tech companies. The Senior Backend Engineer role requires mission alignment, strong backend expertise in building scalable and reliable services, customer-centric thinking for secure and maintainable solutions, and a commitment to high code quality and system design. This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days a week in the office, and candidates must be based in the Greater Seattle Area.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional development experience, shipping production code
- Strong backend capabilities
- Track record of delivering in fast-moving environments
- Solid experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and Infrastructure as Code
- Proficiency in TypeScript or Python
- Ability to debug complex distributed systems
- Clear communicator who works well across engineering and product
- Ability to give and receive feedback well
- Understanding of how work connects to business outcomes and user impact
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Nice To Haves
- Experience with LLMs, generative AI, and AI-powered applications
- Speech/audio processing technologies and real-time communication systems
- NoSQL databases and Kubernetes
- Google Cloud Platform
