About The Position

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll design and build the core systems that power Merciv’s agentic infrastructure. You’ll architect services that process massive volumes of enterprise data in real-time, build the pipelines that feed our AI engines, and ensure our platform scales reliably for Fortune 500 clients who depend on it daily.
This is a DRI (Directly Responsible Individual) role. You’ll own major platform features from architecture to deployment, working closely with ML engineers, product, and our enterprise customers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience, with meaningful time spent building systems at enterprise scale
• Deep proficiency in Go and/or Python, with strong fundamentals in distributed systems and microservices architecture
• Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases; comfortable with data processing at scale
• Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration experience.
• Strong understanding of system design principles (you can architect solutions that balance performance, scalability, and maintainability)
• Passionate about clean, well-tested, maintainable code
• You thrive in fast-paced environments and are energized by hard, ambiguous problems

Nice To Haves

• Experience with graph and/or vector databases
• Familiarity with RAG architectures and the broader GenAI landscape
• Experience with real-time data processing and streaming technologies
• Understanding of ML/AI concepts, particularly in forecasting and NLP

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale backend services using Go and Python that power autonomous retail intelligence for enterprise clients
• Architect data ingestion and processing pipelines that handle millions of data points across internal and external sources
• Build and maintain APIs that serve our agentic AI platform, supporting real-time decision-making at enterprise scale
• Collaborate with ML/AI engineers to integrate predictive and prescriptive models into production workflows
• Own system reliability (design for fault tolerance, observability, and performance under high-throughput conditions)
• Contribute to architectural decisions that shape the long-term trajectory of our platform
• Mentor junior engineers and establish backend engineering best practices as we scale
