About The Position

Let's make healthcare free and accessible to everyone through AI. We need backend infrastructure that can scale our AI doctor platform to billions of consultations while maintaining medical safety and HIPAA compliance. What You'll Build Healthcare API Infrastructure Scalable APIs using Python, FastAPI, AWS handling millions of monthly requests RESTful API development supporting our AI healthcare tools Real-time data processing for sensitive patient information (HIPAA-compliant) Internal API architecture for web platform and AI coordination Integration & Data Systems Secure health record exchange with EHR systems, QHINs, healthcare networks Third-party integrations: telehealth providers, analytics platforms, healthcare APIs Large-scale sensitive data processing with encryption and compliance safeguards Partner API integrations across dozens of diverse healthcare systems Scale & Reliability Database optimization for high-volume healthcare data with complex queries Redis for secure caching and session management in healthcare environments Error handling, failover systems, disaster recovery for mission-critical services Performance optimization for rapid user growth AI System Integration Backend coordination for AI tools and decision-making workflows Python-based deterministic systems working alongside AI agents for clinical accuracy APIs supporting model inference, data preprocessing, result processing Infrastructure for AI safety: validation layers and human escalation protocols You'll also work on healthcare compliance automation, advanced monitoring, multi-region deployment, and backend foundation for next-generation AI healthcare features.

Requirements

  • CS degree OR equivalent demonstrated expertise
  • Engineering, Math, or related technical degrees welcomed with strong programming foundation
  • Preference for graduates from top programs at top universities
  • Preference for founders, founding engineers, or extensive startup experience
  • Independent problem solver who collaborates well cross-functionally
  • 6+ years backend engineering with Python and API development
  • FastAPI, Flask, or similar Python web frameworks
  • Cloud services experience
  • RESTful APIs, high-volume traffic handling
  • Relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and optimization
  • Redis, caching strategies, distributed systems design
  • Third-party API integrations and webhook management
  • Microservices architecture and distributed system patterns
  • Security best practices for sensitive data and API design
  • CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), deployment automation
  • Monitoring, logging, observability tools
