Scaling fast across markets such as Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines; our platform powers millions of trips annually and processes 10s of millions in GMV. Now, we’re entering our next phase of growth. We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer / Tech Lead to take ownership of our backend systems and guide the technical direction of our Node.js infrastructure. You’ll be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and scaling our backend stack while leading by example and ensuring engineering excellence across the team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience building and maintaining backend systems with Node.js, Express.js, and Nest.js.
• Strong experience with database design, management, and optimization (RDBMS & NoSQL).
• Proficiency with message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka) and distributed architectures.
• Deep understanding of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Hands-on experience with monitoring tools and performance profiling.
• Strong command of TypeScript, asynchronous programming, and microservice architecture.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and deploying on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Proven ability to lead engineering efforts and set technical direction.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the entire backend architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Lead development of RESTful APIs and backend services using Node.js, Nest.js, and Express.js.
• Oversee backend design reviews, enforce best practices, and mentor other engineers.
• Design, optimize, and manage databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Implement and manage message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka) for distributed systems and async workloads.
• Deploy and maintain services using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Continuously monitor, profile, and optimize application performance.
• Collaborate closely with frontend, product, and DevOps teams to define backend standards and long-term architecture.
• Ensure systems meet high standards of security, maintainability, and performance.
