About The Position

The Senior Azure Fabric and Databricks Cloud Engineer will play a lead role in designing, implementing, and operationalizing modern cloud-based data platforms built on Microsoft Azure and Fabric. This position supports both business development and project delivery by providing deep technical expertise in Azure Fabric, Databricks, and SQL environments, and by rapidly prototyping data solutions that demonstrate value to prospective clients. The engineer will design and deliver production-ready data platforms that enable cross-system integration, analytics, and reporting for clients in nonprofit, education, and workforce development sectors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in cloud data engineering with strong Azure expertise.
  • 3+ years hands-on experience with Azure Databricks and Delta Lake architecture.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Dataflow Gen2, Power BI integration).
  • Proven track record building and operationalizing Azure SQL and Synapse-based solutions.
  • Demonstrated success supporting solution prototyping and business development activities.
  • Power BI, Power Automate, and integration with M365 / Okta identity systems.
  • PySpark, SQL, and Python for data engineering workflows.
  • CI/CD automation using Azure DevOps and Terraform.
  • Data modeling, lineage, CDC, and orchestration best practices.
  • Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards for Power Platform-based interfaces.
  • Strong collaboration and communication with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to prototype rapidly and present solutions in business-friendly terms.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cloud solution delivery projects.
  • Commitment to data governance, compliance, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and deploy Microsoft Fabric and Azure Databricks environments for enterprise data integration, transformation, and analytics.
  • Build scalable data pipelines that unify data across CRM, financial, LMS, and HR systems.
  • Operationalize Azure SQL-based repositories for analytics, supporting Power BI and SSRS.
  • Implement structured data ingestion workflows for Excel and PDF inputs using Azure Form Recognizer, Power Automate, and Fabric dataflows.
  • Ensure designs align with Microsoft best practices for governance, performance, and security.
  • Develop and demonstrate rapid prototypes showcasing Azure Fabric and Databricks capabilities to prospective clients.
  • Contribute to technical sections of proposals and solution demonstrations during RFP responses and client presentations.
  • Partner with architects and delivery leads to translate client requirements into proof-of-concept environments.
  • Provide pre-sales technical consultation and architecture design support for new engagements.
  • Configure and tune Databricks clusters, pipelines, and workloads for cost and performance efficiency.
  • Set up CI/CD pipelines for data assets using Azure DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code (ARM or Terraform).
  • Establish change tracking, data lineage, and audit mechanisms to support compliance and historical reporting.
  • Create deployment documentation, architecture diagrams, and handover materials for delivery teams.
