About The Position

CGI has an immediate need for a Senior AWS Data Engineer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced team environment supporting one of the largest customers. We take an innovative approach to supporting our client, working side-by-side in an agile environment using emerging technologies. We partner with 15 of the top 20 banks globally, and our top 10 banking clients have worked with us for an average of 26 years!. This role is located at a client site in Reston, VA. A hybrid working model is acceptable. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AWS Data Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of data-driven applications in a hybrid environment. This role involves collaborating with product owners and development teams to deliver complex projects, ensuring adherence to architectural standards, and providing technical guidance to junior staff. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in AWS services, big data processing, and modern DevOps practices, with the ability to manage projects end-to-end with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services (S3, Lambda, Elastic Beanstalk, EMR, Glue, Redshift, RDS, CloudWatch, SNS, SQS, Kinesis).
  • Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark.
  • Expertise in building and deploying applications on AWS and managing large-scale structured and unstructured data
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools like Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins.
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams and design specifications.
  • Skilled in unit testing and writing clean, maintainable code.
  • Familiarity with statistics-based programming languages (e.g., R) for data visualization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to respond quickly to production issues.
  • Excellent communication and mentoring abilities for guiding junior team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Data Analytics) preferred.
