About The Position

The Amynta Group is seeking a Senior Aviation (Producing) Underwriter responsible for underwriting and marketing accounts across approved states/territories. This role involves developing new business, managing assigned Brokers, selecting advantageous risks, and building a profitable portfolio. The Underwriter will represent Beacon Aviation, meeting with insurance Brokers to foster relationships and promote company products. They will collaborate with the underwriting department to analyze financial risk and determine coverage eligibility, while also monitoring loss ratios for Carriers and Brokers to ensure profitability. Regular marketing presentations to prospective clients are expected. The Production Underwriter owns the results of their book of business, balancing distribution and risk selection for profitable growth, and understanding its fit within the broader portfolio strategy. This position reports to the AVP of Underwriting and can be filled by individuals with underwriting experience from a carrier, MGA/MGU, or Broker side, with a willingness to train the right candidate who demonstrates a growth mindset, individual accountability, critical thinking, and detail orientation. Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and market accounts throughout approved states/territories.
  • Develop new business.
  • Manage assigned Brokers.
  • Select advantageous risks.
  • Build a profitable portfolio of accounts.
  • Represent Beacon Aviation and meet with identified insurance Brokers to develop relationships and promote company products and services.
  • Work with the underwriting department to analyze the financial risk of applicants and determine if they qualify for coverage.
  • Monitor loss ratios for Carriers and Brokers and take corrective action when possible to remain profitable.
  • Regularly make marketing presentations to prospective clients.
  • Manage and develop Broker performance and the book of business through personal analysis.
  • Analyze information in insurance applications, supplemental reports, studies, data and related information in order to determine if a risk meets acceptable criteria.
  • Own the results of their book of business and be compensated on annual and long-term profitability.
  • Maintain balance between distribution and risk selection to drive profitable growth.
  • Understand how their book fits in to the broader portfolio strategy.
  • Maintain agent/broker relationships.
  • Engage in activities to generate submissions.
  • Maintain and lead the relationship with their assigned Brokers.
  • Engage in activities to close accounts.
  • Work with key internal stakeholders to develop and maintain product-specific business development plans identifying, segmenting, detailing and evaluating potential broker prospects, and executing such plan to ensure that Amynta generates targeted levels of growth and ‘hit’ ratios in this market.
  • Lead in the education of the broker market on the products in a way that creates a need to buy, highlights our competitive differentiation, illustrate the need for service led products to grow the brand and facilitate the placement of new business.
  • Track metrics around broker engagements maintaining actions and follow ups from visits and share client and broker feedback on product with key stakeholders in a structured manner.
  • Ensure we remain front of mind of brokers by planning and engaging in regular virtual/face-to-face meetings while acting as a contact point for broker queries and product education engaging in appropriate communication.
  • Develop and underwrite a profitable portfolio in support of business plans.
  • Structure tailor-made solutions by considering the team underwriting parameters and underwriting exposures leveraging underwriting knowledge and experience to win new business and retain existing.
  • Monitor premiums, costs and claims ratios per contract and take corrective measures if necessary, to ensure long term profitability at account level.
  • Comply with underwriting control standards for business written through delegated authority.
  • Engage with all levels of leadership to solve problems.
  • Assist in development of internal and external materials.
  • Support business unit leadership with presentations and special projects as assigned.
