As the Senior AI and Autonomy/Swarm Engineer for the Technology Modernization Transition Review (TMTR) process with Serco, you will provide technical and analytical expertise for assessing the ability of developing technologies to close existing gaps in required operational capabilities as identified by the Services and Joint Staff. Daily work is conducted as an integrated team member of the Multi-Domain Joint Operations (MDJO) Directorate under the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Mission Capabilities (ASD MC) within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)). Work locations are in the Alexandria/DC metropolitan area. In this role, you will: Analyze technology project data to include estimated performance, schedule, cost, project risk, and TRL/IRL/MRLs to make prioritization and acceleration recommendations across dozens of technologies within a mission area. Build and present briefings and reports synthesizing technology project analysis to inform Senior DoD decision-makers up to the Under Secretary and Deputy Secretary level. Provide subject-matter expertise in warfighting technologies and capabilities for Joint Information Advantage, Battlespace Awareness, Command and Control, and Joint Fires and Protection Provide technical analysis and advice to inform capability requirements development and validation through the military requirements process. Provide technical expertise to inform mission engineering studies, prototype development, experimentation, and global integrated wargaming.

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • A Master's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • 15 years of relevant work experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position
  • Significant experience with Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Autonomy, and Drone Swarm capabilities, applications, and concepts.
  • Experience with one or more defense S&T labs, S&T management, technology and transition challenges.
  • Technical expertise in command, control, communications, computers, cyber, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and targeting (C5ISRT) in two or more of the following areas: Space and satellite ground station operations Battle Management Command, Control and Communications (BMC3) Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT)
  • DAU Level III Acquisition Certification
  • The ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Working knowledge of current and future airborne and space ISR systems to include the proliferated low earth orbit (PLEO) constellations.
  • Experience leading the planning and execution of complex engineering and systems analysis efforts for the DoD and/or IC.
  • Executive presence with highly effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop high-quality, professional briefings and written reports to succinctly capture key issues for DoD decision-makers.
  • Self-starter, able to take initiative and accomplish work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Must be highly organized with acute attention to detail.
  • JCIDS experience working with the Joint Staff in the military requirements process.
  • Joint Interface Control Officer (JICO) experience, highly desired.
  • Joint Staff experience, highly desired.
  • OSD, Joint Staff, and/or Service Staff experience.
