Senior Autonomous Electrical Engineer

DZYNE TechnologiesPortland, OR
6h$140 - $170Hybrid

About The Position

The Senior Autonomous Systems Electrical Engineer will serve as a technical owner and hands-on contributor across the full lifecycle of DZYNE’s aircraft and launcher electrical systems. This role spans supplier oversight, internal electronics development, and long-term product sustainment, with a strong emphasis on ensuring DZYNE retains deep technical ownership of its designs as programs transition from development through LRIP and into operational service. In this position, the engineer will be responsible for electrical system architecture, subsystem design, system integration, troubleshooting, harness design, electromechanical testing, and data analysis. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams (mechanical, manufacturing, GNC, firmware/software, aerodynamics, quality, and program management) and active engagement with external suppliers to ensure designs meet DZYNE standards for quality, robustness, and maintainability.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressively responsible industry experience in the field of Electrical Engineering
  • Practical electrical hardware design, debugging, and system integration
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, validate, and test electrical subsystems and systems
  • Experience with end-to-end electrical system architecture and technical decision-making
  • Experience producing clear technical documentation, schematics, and reports
  • Proficiency with ECAD tools such as Altium

  • Experience with autonomous, robotic, or aircraft electrical systems
  • UAV experience strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with microcontrollers and firmware/software integration
  • Experience working in small to mid-sized R&D environments
  • Familiarity with MIL-spec hardware and harnessing standards

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the end-to-end architecture and technical decision-making for electrical systems across development, production, and sustainment
  • Design, develop, integrate, and debug electrical and electromechanical subsystems
  • Review and guide externally developed electrical designs to ensure alignment with company standards and requirements
  • Support design updates driven by product improvements, obsolescence, and evolving requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and program teams
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, test plans, and engineering reports
  • Communicate technical concepts and results clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Mentor other engineers and promote sound engineering practices
