About The Position

The Senior Automation Service Engineer will provide primary support to laboratory operations at Guardant Health facilites. The selected candidate will be baseds in the Redwood City, CA facility but will also provide support to other satellite locations as necessary. He/she will be responsible for performing or facilitating laboratory PC and networking configuration across all Operations and Development laboratories. This position requires a candidate that is strong in root cause analysis and support of IT equipment commonly used with DNA sequencing instrumentation. He/She must be detail oriented, have worked in a regulated environment (CLIA, CAP and FDA desirable), strong documentation skills (GDP) and strong communication skills both written and verbal.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant IT/Infrastructure or Service Engineering experience
  • BS degree in a scientific or engineering focus.
  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting Microsoft and MAC OS systems
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting networking and various software applications.
  • Strong customer focused service experience.
  • Ability to constructively challenge concerns and engage in transparent conversations
  • Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems with minimal direction and make decisions with confidence.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to successfully balance and prioritize multiple ongoing projects/requests
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong working relationships
  • High degree of initiative and self-motivation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with use of virtual machines to drive robotics is desirable
  • Experience supporting Seagull Bartender and Mesa Labs Viewpoint is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Respond to IT/Infrastructure-related issues and serve as the Tier 1 support function.
  • Support software and applications utilized by the Automation Service Engineering team.
  • Proceduralize and cross-train on support processes to ensure continuity between cross-functional departments
  • Develop a knowledge base for issue resolution history
  • Manage and maintain PCs and peripherals for laboratory equipment
  • Manage and configure network infrastructure for Operations and Development equipment
  • Manage and configure and equipment cameras
  • Develop and deploy product-specific PC images
  • Collaborate with continuous improvement team to streamline equipment IQOQ processes
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues with laboratory instrumentation
  • Execute Installation and Operational Qualifications on PCs, labelers, printers, etc
  • Manage ViewPoint monitoring system upgrades and support
  • Implement SW upgrades across all laboratory equipment
  • Perform IQOQs on labelers, printers, PCs, etc
  • Provide support to Guardant Health’s public private partnership (PPP) IT staff to ensure alignment with Guardant Health IT infrastructure
  • Define IT specifications and requirements to all external customers and satellite locations to ensure compliance with Guardant Health’s information and security regulations
  • Represent Automation Service Engineering in cross functional meetings.
  • Execute special projects as assigned.
