We are seeking a Senior Automation Engineering Manager to lead the Automation, Instrumentation, and Controls (AIC) discipline across complex, multi-phase projects. This role combines deep technical expertise in automation systems with strong leadership capabilities to guide teams, manage project execution, and ensure alignment with client goals and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with hands-on experience in automation design and implementation, and a proven ability to mentor and lead engineering teams.

  • Lead the design and execution of automation systems for advanced manufacturing facilities.
  • Manage discipline-level scope, budget, and schedule across multiple projects.
  • Supervise and mentor engineering and design staff, ensuring quality and consistency in deliverables.
  • Collaborate with project managers, cross-discipline teams, and clients to align technical solutions with project objectives.
  • Develop construction documentation and specifications for complex automation systems.
  • Provide technical oversight during construction, including RFI responses, submittal reviews, and field support.
  • Conduct interviews and contribute to hiring and team development efforts.
  • Drive continuous improvement in design standards, workflows, and project execution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, preferably in a design firm environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading automation engineering teams and managing large-scale projects.
  • Strong understanding of control system design, instrumentation, and regulatory compliance (e.g., cGMPs).
  • Proficiency in engineering documentation including P&IDs, control schematics, and panel drawings.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • ISA Certified Automation Professional (CAP).
  • Experience with advanced technology projects in biotech, pharmaceutical, or food & beverage sectors.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and discipline-specific engineering software.
  • Knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and industry codes and standards.
