About The Position

As a Senior Automation Engineer at Pieper Automation, you will play a pivotal role in executing automation projects, with a strong emphasis on process control. Your expertise in process control will be essential to ensure projects meet customer needs and requirements. This role involves project engineering, programming, and cultivating customer relationships to drive repeat business and growth. You will work independently or as part of a project team, travel as needed for system commissioning, and communicate effectively with customers and various levels of personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years in the automation field, with significant experience in process control.
  • Extensive experience in Process Control Engineering required, preferably with Rockwell PlantPAx Distributed Control Systems.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in control system design, machine safety, PLCs, SCADA/Operator Interfaces, with a strong process controls background.
  • Strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Capable of working independently or within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation.
  • Positive attitude towards safety and personal integrity are essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience in drive systems, robotics, and/or vision systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute projects with a primary focus on process control, ensuring solutions are designed and implemented according to customer specifications and industry best practices.
  • Apply advanced process control strategies, particularly with Rockwell PlantPAx Distributed Control Systems, to optimize automation solutions.
  • Participate in project estimating, design reviews, programming, installation, and commissioning support, with a strong process control perspective.
  • Specify control systems hardware and software per customer requirements.
  • Solve complex process-related problems independently and suggest innovative solutions to internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrate commitment to building technical skills through continuous education.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to others, especially in process control methodologies.
  • Interface and communicate effectively with various stakeholders including engineers, project managers, electricians, vendors, customers, and company leadership.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through successful project execution and effective communication.
  • Build and maintain relationships to foster repeat business and growth.
